PICTURE A DAY-NINE

DYING DAFFODILS
FEBRUARY 16TH:Two for the price of one again today. These are a bit scrappy and in colour, probably reflecting the fever that is accompanying this cold which seems to be steadily getting worse. I am mega-dosing myself with Vitamin C which has heightened the battle for my respiratory tract.
I imagine the soldiers of my immune system under siege, in trenches behind my tonsils, grubby, drawn faces(do they have wee faces?) lit by the flickering half-light of burning esophageal villages. Maybe there is another platoon wading through the murky swamp of my lungs, carrying injured comrades to safety, my racking coughs like the bark of cannon cutting off their escape. Could it be that my Vitamin C reinforcements are being captured by the enemy, an alien invasion of viscous shape-changers who kill by enveloping their screaming victims…you see what I mean by feverish?
I went for a walk on the beach today, first day out walking in a few days. I think it was a mistake, as even though I was wrapped up, my ear began to ache. I did get some nice photos though, but just with my phone camera. I cursed myself for not bringing my sketch pad until people stopped to stare and point. So I have ended up doing these two this evening.
ON THE BEACH
I had been thinking of using a Picture A Day to practise my non-existent watercolour skills and the daffodils were to be my first go. Except my watercolour set when fished from my painty tool box seemed to be a bit sparse  so I supplemented it with artists quality acrylic which I started off trying to use as watercolour but ended up using like oil colour, my favoured medium, lashing it enthusiastically. It was fun but as it was on watercolour paper everything got a bit bumpy, or maybe we’ll call it textured.
The second picture is my kitchen at sunset today with a box of clementines on the table. I found out a couple of years back that oranges give me headaches but the recent discovery that clementines don’t has made me all excited and I am eating them by the box load.
SUNSET WITH CLEMENTINES
You can click on them to see bigger images but I’m not sure I’d advise it as the bigger I see them the more dreadful they are. They are a bit rushed and feverish it’s true but even if I didn’t have a cold they’d still probably be a bit rushed and feverish anyway.  Must try harder. See you tomorrow.
