PICTURE A DAY 16-20

PICTURE A DAY-SIXTEEN
MARCH 2ND:PICTURE A DAY SIXTEEN:I am going to start posting the daily pictures here and then doing the week of pictures as a post on Fridays so as not to clutter up people’s inboxes. I am aware I am posting a lot. Just click on any of the pictures to see a larger version.
This ones a doodle, haven’t been doodling in years and I am really enjoying it, seeing what comes out. It’ s very different from drawing from life when your attention is turned outwards. Doodling allows your mind to roam free without the tether of the dread analyst which is busy with the drawing. Lots of sea monsters coming up.I did this in a sketch pad and it overflowed its original page which is why there’s a line through it. This one is based on a frog. I love frogs for some reason. Anyone who prefers more fine art or nice photos, well they will come too…at some point:)
PICTURE A DAY-SEVENTEEN
PICTURE A DAY-SEVENTEEN:One of my favourite places to be with a cup of tea and a good book and the sunshine through the window. Nice.
PICTURE A DAY-EIGHTEEN
PICTURE A DAY-EIGHTEEN:
Sometimes I do a little overtime and I found myself starting my Picture-A-Day this morning at 4:30am during a little downtime. Unfortunately I also left it behind. But here is what I was drawing. Sometimes we get drawn to sketching organic things, they can seem more interesting than symmetrical, manufactured shapes but still I think it is a good to exercise this kind of drawing skill I think. You can’t get away with so many wobbly lines here! This one is not successful, last nights one in biro was better. As you can see the lines are really not conveying the smooth texture very well. Too hairy. Oh well. It is what it is.
PICTURE A DAY-NINETEEN
PICTURE A DAY- NINETEEN:I did a lot of drawing today but I have chosen these quick sketches of my neighbour and pal. I decided to draw him and I thought it would only take a few minutes because he just lies round the place. It was only when I started drawing him that he realised he actually never stops moving, another reminder of how much drawing can focus your attention in a way looking doesn’t. So it turned into a quick sketch session, like the ones we used to do in college where the model will move every 30 seconds. It’s a really good exercise to try though maybe not with an Alsatian as I ended up having to run after him and drag him off another dog after he broke through his electric doggy fence. I eventually gave up when a blue tit, outraged that I was getting between him and his bird balls(!), started shouting at me from the top of a bramble in a near by hedge.
NEIGHBOUR LYING AROUND
USELESS FACT OF THE DAY:Did you know that German Shepherds and Alsatians are exactly the same breed? The name was changed after Germans became quite unpopular(ahem)after the first world war and it was feared the word German would affect the breeds popularity so the name was changed to Alsatian Wolf Dog, quite aptly named, I think my neighbour is very wolfy. It was only in 1977 that they were allowed to be registered as German Shepherds again.
PICTURE A DAY-TWENTY
PICTURE A DAY TWENTY:End of the week, feet up with a cup of tea and a toastie at T-Bay Surf and Eco centre. Nice. I do like sofas.
